Hon. Engr. Gibson Edwin Munalayefa, born on January 11, 1980, in Epebu Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is a distinguished Nigerian politician and civil engineer. Since June 2024, he has served as the Honourable Commissioner for Communication, Science, and Technology in the Bayelsa State Executive Council, under Governor Douye Diri.
Political Career
Gibson was first elected to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in 2015, representing the people of Ogbia Constituency II, and was re-elected in 2019, serving until 2023. During his time in the House, he was elected as a principal officer of the majority People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 6th House of Assembly, holding the role of Deputy Chief Whip.

Gibson graduated from Imo State University, Owerri, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He has participated in numerous high-impact projects across Bayelsa State, including road construction, community electrification, and building projects. His roles ranged from Site Engineer to Project Supervisor before transitioning into his political career.
