The Bayelsa State Government, through the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology, has commenced a five-day intensive training programme for Website Desk Officers from selected Ministries, to be responsible for the creation of Content, uploading and updating of content concerning their Ministry to the Central Bayelsa State Government website (www.bayelsastate.gov.ng).
The training, which began on Monday, August 11, 2025, is designed to build the technical capacity of government personnel in managing and updating official ministry websites to ensure transparency, accessibility, and effective digital communication with the public.
The training sessions are being led by Tari Okorotie, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on ICT, serving as the Lead Instructor, along with two other expert instructors who will provide hands-on guidance throughout the programme.


Speaking at the opening session, the Honourable Commissioner for Communication, Science and Technology, Engr. Gibson Munalayefa Edwin, commended the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri for his foresight and directive that led to the launch of this strategic initiative.
“This training is a bold and timely step toward building a digitally responsive public service,” the Commissioner said. “By empowering desk officers to manage their Ministry websites effectively, we are reinforcing government transparency, fostering public trust, and ensuring real-time access to information for the people of Bayelsa State.”
He further stated that this exercise is only the beginning, as additional phases will be rolled out to train representatives from other Ministries and Agencies across the state.
Participants are expected to complete the five-day programme with hands-on skills in website content management, digital communication best practices, and maintenance of user-friendly, up-to-date government portals.
