Human Resource & Management

The Human Resource Management (HRM) Department is responsible for interpreting and executing government policies related to the ministry’s personnel management.

Our Core Functions Include:

  • Overseeing staff recruitment, welfare, and both local and international training and development.
  • Managing disciplinary cases involving ministry staff, including appeals and petitions referred to the Civil Service Commission.
  • Responsible for the documentation of newly recruited staff and those transferred from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Bayelsa State.
  • Maintaining official records and documents of the ministry.
  • Serving as the secretariat for junior and senior staff committees handling recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary matters.
  • Providing secretariat services for top management and other specialized meetings.
  • Processing appeals and petitions from ministry staff to the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission.
  • Managing office furniture and equipment.
  • Preparing and updating the staff Nominal Roll.
  • Managing matters related to NYSC members and IT students.
  • Liaising with the Office of the Head of Civil Service and the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission.
  • Handling staff leave, claims, entitlements, and related matters.
  • Processing pension matters for ministry staff.
  • Addressing general labor and industrial relations issues within the ministry.
  • Coordinating activities related to the Bayelsa State Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS).
